Dionne Yvette Farris is an American singer, songwriter, producer and actress. Born and raised in New Jersey, she began singing in elementary school and entered beauty pageants as a teenager. In the early 1990s, she participated in the single "Tennessee" by hip hop group Arrested Development. Farris rose to fame for releasing her debut album Wild Seed - Wild Flower on Columbia Records. The album has the Top 40 single, "I Know". That same year, the video won Farris the award for Pop / Rock Music Video Artist of the Year. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
